The community of Shivapura marked International Women’s Day on March 10, 2024, with approximately 120 women garment workers actively participating. Dr Nagalakshmi Chowdri, the president of the Women’s Commission, graced the occasion as the chief guest, alongside esteemed guests Mrs Ganaga, a teacher at Sri Guru Vidhya Samsthe, and Mrs Bharathi, a social worker. Throughout the event, the speakers highlighted the significant power women wielded and discussed the potential impact of their unity. They also encouraged the women garment workers to assert their rights when necessary, stressing the importance of women being informed about their rights.
