General Secretary

Mrs. Yashodha is one of the founders and the General Secretary of Munnade Social Organisation. She has completed her Senior Secondary School certificate and hails from a small village called Pochakatte in Tumakuru district, Karnataka.

Inspired by the Karnataka Government’s Adult Education programme during her childhood, she began teaching her parents and grandparents in the evenings while still in her early teens. She is a survivor of child marriage and lost her husband at the age of 18. Following this, she moved to Bengaluru with her one-year-old child.

To meet her daily expenses, she joined a garment factory as a tailor and worked there for eight years. She later resigned due to persistent workplace harassment and went on to join Cividep India as a Field Coordinator.

She has presented the situation of Indian garment workers at several international platforms, including at Cardiff University in the United Kingdom. Currently, she holds an executive leadership role at Munnade and continues to work tirelessly towards empowering garment workers and advancing their rights.
