Awareness Session on Government Welfare Schemes for Garment Workers

On 10 August 2025, Munnade Social Organisation conducted a training programme for women garment workers. The session aimed to raise awareness about the wide range of government welfare schemes available to workers—benefits that many are eligible for but often unable to access due to lack of clear information.

Smt. Rathnamma J served as the resource person for the programme and guided participants through these schemes in a simple and practical manner. She explained housing and pension schemes, educational scholarships and benefits for children, laptop distribution programmes, central government grants, subsidy opportunities, and fee concessions. She also clarified procedures related to ration card corrections, labour department schemes, health cards, and voter ID registration—topics that frequently pose difficulties for workers.

More than 40 women garment workers attended the programme and actively engaged in the discussion. Many shared that the session gave them much-needed clarity and confidence to apply for these schemes, turning the training into an empowering and meaningful opportunity.
