Mrs. Ishrath Nisar completed her M.A. in Kannada from the University of Mysore in 1991 and began her career as a Kannada lecturer at Al-Ameen College, Bengaluru. In 1999, she joined Janavahini as a Reporter-cum-Sub Editor. She was the first Muslim woman to work in the Kannada journalism field, paving the way for many other firsts in Kannada print media.

In 2005, she worked with renowned film director Girish Kasaravalli on his award-winning Kannada film Hasina as a costume designer. The film won three National Awards—for Best Actress, Best Costume Design, and Best Film on Social Issues.

She also has extensive expertise in setting up child-friendly crèches for the garment and leather industries. A committed mentor, she actively supports and guides young people, encouraging them to think positively, and enjoys working closely with them.
